Prevolving is hosted on Siteground, and I want to share with you why I personally use this hosting platform.
I did a lot of research prior to deciding which web host I was going to use, and SiteGround came out on top for the 3 major factors I found most important. Speed, Security and Support. So I’ll run through them here with you.
Let’s talk about speed, probably one of the most important factors for anyone deciding which web host to go with. The results below are based on tests with real accounts on 12 of the most popular web hosts on the market: Bluehost, HostGator, iPage, Fatcow, Justhost, InMotion, AsmallOrange, WebhostingHub, Arvixe, GoDaddy, GreenGeeks and A2Hosting.
SiteGround loads websites faster!
Industry average loading time: 4.7 sec
SiteGround loading time without cache: 1.7 sec
SiteGround loading time with cache: 1.3 sec
SiteGround used Pingdom to test the loading time of identical WordPress websites hosted on the 12 different hosting companies. The faster loading result for SiteGround was achieved with the SuperCacher switched on for the website.
This is obviously a high priority when choosing a web host. Again the results below are based on tests with real accounts on 12 of the most popular web hosts on the market: Bluehost, HostGator, iPage, Fatcow, Justhost, AsmallOrange, InMotion, WebhostingHub, Arvixe, GoDaddy, GreenGeeks and A2Hosting.
SiteGround can handle more traffic!
Industry average hits handled: 2852
Without cache SiteGround can handle 3 times more: 8276
With cache SiteGround can handle: over 230,000
Apart from loading speed, SiteGround tested how many hits can be successfully handled in two minutes by each of the 12 accounts with the same test WordPress website. The test was done with the help of the Siege testing and benchmark utility. The higher number of handled hits by SiteGround was achieved with the SuperCacher switched on for the website.
More enhanced performance features include NGINX web server technology to speed up the load of the static content of all the websites they host.
They also have as standard HTTP/2 which is the newest network protocol, which significantly speeds up loading of websites in the browser. SiteGround are among the first hosts to support it on all their servers. HTTP/2 requires encrypted connection. To allow anyone take advantage of this great protocol they provide Let’s Encrypt free SSL Certificates with every account. So you know when buying hosting from them you’ll be covered with a secure padlock.
SiteGround made it possible for its users to take advantage of PHP7, which is known for its great speed benefits.
There is also a Free CDN available. The free Cloudflare CDN makes your website load faster in any part of the world by caching its content and distributing it over multiple data centers. When foreign visitors access your website, SiteGround’s CDN delivers the content much faster from the data center closest to them.
So SiteGround have definitely got speed and performance covered. Lets take a look at security.
SiteGround tested WordPress and Joomla related vulnerabilities announced publicly more than a 1 month before the test. On all 12 tested hosts both vulnerabilities were still exploitable with no problem. At SiteGround both were patched on a server level at SiteGround in up to 48 hours after their public announcement.
SiteGround were the pioneers in applying effective account isolation mechanisms to the shared hosting environment. Nowadays, most of the shared hosts apply similar techniques but it is still possible to see an environment that is not properly isolated.
Let’s check out SiteGround’s support. First up is phone support. They provide me with a free to call UK number as I’m based in the UK. This is extremely good as when you call on the phone you usually have a pressing issue. Having your call picked up immediately is really important. Unfortunately this does not happen everywhere. I’ve tested this out and they pick up the phone almost immediately.
Ok, moving onto chat support, here is what SiteGround state are their tests on the 12 tested companies. They contacted the LiveChat of the 12 tested companies and SiteGround with one and the same simple request and recorded how much time was needed for issue resolution including the wait time before the chat was picked up.
Pretty impressive stats there, so I decided to check out their response times myself and videoed the results. Watch the video below.
So there own claims stand up to scrutiny here. They do indeed answer immediately and have your issue sorted out in record time.
SiteGround asked each of the 12 companies 3 questions over their ticketing systems: one general, one WordPress related and one Joomla related. They averaged the first response time and the resolution times for each company based on these three questions.
So there you have it, these are the reasons I chose SiteGround as my webhost. They are, in my opinion, the best host currently out there. So if you would like to check out their services please click the affiliate link below.
